Topographic Map
Media:
3D Model
A topographical model representing the terrain of a local reef. It portrays the shifts in elevation demonstrated through contour lines made from layers of cardboard. I found passion in creating this project through the hands on environment. I created this using cardboard slabs that were cut using a jigsaw. The measurements of the island were approximated by sight as real surveying was not an option. The different colors of paint are meant to represent the shift from the elevations under the water and the ones above. One interesting part about this project is that the water level shifts with the tides. The entirety of the rock is covered on the highest tides, while more is revealed on the low tides. I decided to approximate my water level based off of a 2.0 foot tide.
